Market Overton and Somerby Surgeries are no longer providing private travel vaccines to our patients (or temporary visitors to the area). However, we continue to offer appointments for travel vaccine advice and will also provide the free NHS travel vaccines.
Which travel vaccines are free?
The following travel vaccines are available free on the NHS.
- polio (given as a combined diphtheria/tetanus/polio jab)
- typhoid
- hepatitis A
- cholera
These vaccines are free because they protect against diseases thought to represent the greatest risk to public health if they were brought into the country.
Which travel vaccines will I have to pay for? (Market Overton and Somerby Surgeries do not provide the following vaccinations)
You’ll have to pay for travel vaccinations against:
- hepatitis B
- Japanese encephalitis
- meningitis vaccines
- rabies
- tick-borne encephalitis
- tuberculosis (TB)
- yellow fever
Yellow fever vaccines are only available from designated centres (Oakham Medical Centre is currently going through the removal process as a registered centre) which in Rutland currently includes, Boot Pharmacy (High Street, Oakham), Uppingham Surgery, Day Lewis Pharmacy and Rutland Late Night Pharmacy. Patients should also speak to these providers regarding all other private vaccine requirements.
Disclaimer:
Travel Clinics run by availability and in extreme circumstances may be cancelled at short notice in view of staff shortage/sickness.
